Hannah Williams

Hannah started dancing at the age of six in Mackay and has learnt CSTD Tap and Jazz as well as RAD Ballet. She always had a love for the performing arts and along with her dancing she has extended her passion towards singing and acting as well. Furthering her studies as an adult Hannah has studied her CSTD Certificate in Tap (a favorite style of dance for Hannah) and a Bachelor of Theatre (Musical Theatre) at C.Q. University Mackay, which has given her many great opportunities in the arts. Hannah has also attended Dance Excellence Workshops in Los Angeles USA where she performed as a guest with the Young Americans as well as performing at Disneyland.

We look forward to having Hannah to teach with us from time to time.

Teale Howie

Teale is currently a third year at the Central Queensland Conservatorium of Music studying musical theatre. His initial interest in performing was sparked in 2006 with hip-hop dance and he hasn’t looked back since. He loves treading the boards and has performed in productions including Grease, Spamalot, Hairspray, Brigadoon, 42nd Street, The Sentimental Bloke and Chicago, playing both ensemble, minor and leading roles. Teale plans on pursuing a career in both the theatre industry as well as the dance industry, and is determined to do so. He will bring his passion for Hip Hip to TDF.

Joel Bow

Joel is a well established performer who developed a love of being in the spotlight from an early age. Originally from Mackay, Joel studied Music Theatre at CQU Conservatorium of Music and furthered his studies at Brent Street in Sydney. Joel has performed in a huge variety of productions nationally and internationally. At last count Joel has either performed in, choreographed or produced eleven Music Theatre productions and has travelled the world as a singer/dancer on four cruise liners. He has produced, performed in or been an amazing MC for sold out Cabaret shows from Mackay to Hong Kong. He will bring all of that talent to TDF classes. They will be an absolute blast.

Taylor Hey

Taylor Hey will be tapping up a storm as your teacher in our Level 2 Tap (Advanced) Class. Taylor’s training has spanned the last 15 years, achieving her Royal Academy of Dance Advanced 2 in classical ballet and her CSTD Teacher’s Certificates in Tap and Jazz. She has also completed six months of her Advanced Diploma in Dance Elite Performance from Dance World Studios, Melbourne. Performance and dance have been a huge part of Taylor’s life. She has competed locally and at many national competitions, and has always kept up to date with the latest techniques by travelling to attend workshops across the nation. It is safe to say that when Taylor left most dance competitions she needed a trailer to carry all of her trophies and awards. Her tap rhythms are incredible, her sense of performance amazing, her love of tap visible. Taylor is excited to be passing on her love of tap and all she has learnt in her dance and teaching career so far. She can't wait to help Foundry dancers on their own journeys – whether it is just for fun, fitness or skill development! Taylor’s Advanced Tap class promises to offer a new exciting tap flavor. Classes will offer new combinations that will get your feet working and your brain thinking and her relaxed feel to syncopated tap rhythms will leave you wanting more.

Madi Reck - Foundry Principal

Madi Reck has founded The Dance Foundry on her love and passion for dance and her desire to ensure dance is accessible and able to be enjoyed by Mackay’s adults. Madi started dancing when she was four, under the guidance of Lynette Denny. Madi has been immersed in the dance world ever since – over the last 19 years Madi has trained in many styles from Ballet to Hip Hop. Undertaking ballet exams in the Royal Academy of Dance Syllabus and obtaining her Jazz teaching certificate with the Commonwealth Society Teachers of Dance. Madi went on to further tertiary studies at the Australian Dance Performance Institute where she gained a Diploma in Music Theatre and Commercial Dance and learnt from some of Queensland’s best teachers. Through this study she was able to gain a qualification in her two loves - dance and theatre. Being able to perform at the Opera House was an absolute highlight. But Mackay called her home and she now wants to continue to grow Mackay’s dance and entertainment future. To keep Mackay’s adults dance fit and dance current. Madi is no stranger to the stage. From a tiny tot to a senior dance performer in Mackay and Brisbane, Madi has gone on and performed with the Mackay Musical Comedy Players for the last five years. She recently choreographed the recent A Wink at the Sphinx Theatre Restaurant. Madi is committed to dance in Mackay and can be described as having a limitless passion for dance. She is devoted to creating a fun, relaxed social dance environment. Madi guarantees Foundry classes will leave you feeling positive and inspired whether you are new and nervous about dancing or whether you are getting back to or continuing your dance journey as an adult. What can you expect from Madi’s classes? I want people to connect with dance, to enjoy themselves, to relax and find their own style. A good warm up will always be important and then we get to enjoy the style, whether that’s commercial jazz, broadway, contemporary or dance fitness.

Demi Reck

Starting at a young age, Demi trained in CSTD Jazz (Teachers Certificate) and Tap (Teachers Certificate) as well as RAD Classical Ballet (Advanced 2), gaining astounding results. Along the way Demi also competed successfully in the Mackay Eisteddfod, before moving down south to continue her studies at Danceworld Studios in Melbourne, also known as APO Arts Academy where she completed her Advanced Diploma of Dance (Elite Performance). Meet The Team

Kyra Geoghegan

Kyra started dancing at a very young age. She was lucky enough to train with her mum Stella who is a very well respected Mackay dance teacher. Kyra trained in ballet, jazz, contemporary, speech and drama and singing. Kyra has gone on to gain her Advanced Trinity College Performers Diploma in Music Theatre and her Ballet Teachers Diploma for the Royal Academy of Dance syllabus. It is not surprising that Kyra's family connections to dance and teaching have led her to have a passion to teach and perform. Over many years Kyra has shared her love of performance with Mackay's audiences. You may have seen her as Rizzo in Mackay Musical Comedy Players production of Grease (2012) or as Bonny in MMCP's Bonny and Clyde (2014). Only two of the many productions Kyra has applied her charisma and talent to. Kyra wants TDF ballet classes to have a modern edge. Beginners will feel at home and those rediscovering ballet will be challenged.  Everyone will have fun and will benefit from ballet fitness.
